2. General information on data processing

We generally only process our users' personal data to the extent necessary to provide a functioning website and our content and services, or to the extent permitted by law. Processing of our users' personal data regularly only takes place after user consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), or where processing is necessary to safeguard legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), provided the interests, fundamental rights, and freedoms of the data subject do not outweigh those interests.

3. Your rights as a data subject

You have the following rights toward us with regard to your personal data:

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Right to rectification or erasure (Art. 16, 17 GDPR)
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Right to withdraw consent given, with future effect (Art. 7(3) GDPR)
  • Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, e.g. the Brandenburg State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Art. 77 GDPR)

4. Provision of the website and creation of log files

Each time our website is accessed, our system automatically collects data and information from the accessing computer system (server log files). The following data is collected: browser type and version, operating system used, referrer URL, hostname of the accessing computer, time of the server request, and IP address. This processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, arising from our legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimization of our website, as well as ensuring IT security. Log file data is stored for a limited period for security reasons and then deleted.

6. Web analytics with Matomo

This website uses the open-source web analytics service Matomo, which runs on our own, self-operated server (Matomo instance: https://avizo-bth.com/matomo/). No data is transmitted to third-party servers. Matomo uses cookies that allow an analysis of your use of our website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is processed only on our server.

Users' IP addresses are anonymized before storage (IP anonymization is enabled on our Matomo instance), so that no conclusions can be drawn about individual persons. We use Matomo exclusively with your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie settings above on this page; the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to the withdrawal remains unaffected. Our tracking script additionally respects your browser's Do Not Track setting.

7. Contacting us

If you contact us via the contact form or by email, your details (name, email address, company, message text) are stored with us for the purpose of processing your inquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We do not pass on this data without your consent. Processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, where your inquiry serves to initiate a contract, otherwise on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR arising from our legitimate interest in responding to your inquiry, or on your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, where such consent was requested.

8. OpenStreetMap (map display)

On our contact page, we embed a map excerpt from the OpenStreetMap mapping service to show you our location. For privacy reasons, the map is not loaded automatically: only once you actively click „Load map“ does your browser connect to OpenStreetMap's servers (delivered via the content delivery provider Fastly, USA), which transmits, among other things, your IP address to the provider. The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, given by clicking „Load map“. Further information is available in OpenStreetMap's privacy policy: https://wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.

9. Whitepaper download (HUB)

To download whitepapers and guides in our HUB section, we ask for your first name, last name, business email address, company, and role. We use this information to provide you with the requested content and, where applicable, to inform you about related content. Processing is based on your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, given by ticking the corresponding checkbox in the form. Data is not passed on to third parties.

To confirm that the email address you provide is genuine, we send a one-time six-digit verification code to that address. The code is only valid for a limited time (10 minutes) and is not stored on our server in plain text: it is embedded, in cryptographically hashed form, in a signed, time-limited token held in your browser session until you enter the code. The download link is only released once you have entered the correct code. This processing is likewise based on your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and serves to prevent abuse through invalid or third-party email addresses.

You can withdraw your consent at any time with future effect, e.g. by email to luis.k@avizo-bth.com.

10. Hosting

The hosting services we use serve to provide infrastructure and platform services, computing capacity, storage space, and database services, as well as technical maintenance services, which we use for the purpose of operating this online offering. In doing so, we, or our hosting provider, process personal data based on our legitimate interest in an efficient and secure provision of this online offering pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 28 GDPR (data processing agreement).

11. SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, this site uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the browser's address line changes from „http://“ to „https://“ and by the lock icon in your browser bar.

12. Changes to this privacy policy

We reserve the right to adapt this privacy policy so that it always complies with current legal requirements, or to implement changes to our services in the privacy policy. The new privacy policy will apply to your next visit.
